Bentos 03.17.2010

I didn't get much into a St. Patrick's day theme, other than to use green bento boxes. Here in Alaska it was sunny and warm (upper 30s) on St. Patrick's so we took our light lunch bentos for a ride in the car to soak up some sun (we soaked up the sun, the bentos did not). :)

This first one is mine. Chicken salad wrap with sliced apple baran on top and fresh pineapple with sliced apple baran in the bottom tier.  Another B.O.M.B entry for me!

D's box also had chicken salad wrap, extra lettuce and sliced apples, cheese & crackers.

Dinner Bento 03.15.2010

This is the dinner bento I made myself before going to my quilt class the other night.

On the far left we have green tea soba noodles (very tasty) with a buttery lemon sauce with lightly steamed zucchini & mushrooms, edible baran of sliced kiwi & pineapple. On the right a couple of slices of turkey stromboli, clementine segments and the cut outs are steamed sweet potato.

I guess this qualifies for a B.O.M.B. entry! :)

Bento #9 2.13.2010

Today's bento is more RED for the BOMB Challenge at Hapa Bento. :)  I've got 2 mini pita that I sprayed with food coloring spray (be careful if you use this, the overspray goes farther than you think) filled with fried egg and apple-shaped cheese cutouts. I've also cut out apple hearts (harder to do than I thought it would be). Cremini mushrooms filled with roasted eggplant dip and layered with thin slices of radish, pineapple, and golden Oreo cakesters from a 100 calorie pack.

My mom made me the table topper a couple of years ago for Valentine's day. It's reversible with St. Patrick's fabric on the back, so you'll see that in a few weeks.

Bento #8 2.11.2010

I finally took a few minutes this week to make a couple of bentos for me & D. :) And I got a couple of cool background papers for Valentines Day so maybe I could enter them in the BOMB Challenge at Hapa Bento. My bento has 100 calorie goldfish, pb&j on a lip shaped sandwich thin (inside out), colby-jack hearts, radishes, carrots, celery, grape tomatoes, pineapple, cucumbers, and apples. Oh, and the blue silicone cup has more roasted eggplant dip.

D's bento has a turkey & cheese heart sandwich (he did not like the turkey showing through the bread like that, next time I'll have to put the piece I cut out back in there inside out so it shows), 100 calorie mini fudge stripe cookies, apples, heart cheese cut-out, carrots, wheat thins & roasted eggplant dip.
